I'm a community organiser/educator in Brisbane, Australia and have used it in a variety of situations such as at the first Australian Climate Action Summit. I co-facilitated the campaign development stream with fellow members of the Change Agency, we reached a point of almost stalemate - where we had too many campaign ideas to be useful to the community climate movement. We then used dotmocracy to gauge everyone's thoughts on the campaign ideas and successfully whittled them down to just 3 clear and well-supported campaigns.
great resource, thanks for creating it
At some point in a workshop you need to move from exploration to action. We use Dotmocracy to achieve this turning point because it's simple and leaves a tangible record of what the participants believe is important. And when combined with some evocative stories it really inspires people to take action.
Lyn Carson was visiting Melbourne last week, and suggested I take a look at your site and the sheets.
They're exactly what we're looking for as we go to the stage of choosing expert witnesses for a Citizens' Jury. Each member of the steering group will be able to respond in a focused and constructive way, with the use of this approach. Thanks a lot!
